NHPR’s weekday evening lineup is changing, in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Beginning Wednesday, March 25, NHPR will launch a new, live, call-in focused program. New Hampshire Calling will provide a space for the community to connect with NHPR reporters and each other. The one-hour broadcast will be primarily driven by audience participation -- with listeners answering our questions about what they’re thinking about, worrying about, and where they're finding joy right now.
“The coronavirus pandemic is completely changing the way we work, coexist as households and families and interact as a society,” said Jim Schachter, President & CEO of NHPR. “We’re confused, and frankly we’re scared. At this time, it’s essential that NHPR serve not just as a source of news and information but also as a ‘virtual gathering’ spot, a hearth where people can share stories and solutions, pose questions and just talk to neighbors about what’s on their minds. ”
Jack Rodolico, senior producer at NHPR and most recently co-host of the Stranglehold podcast, will host New Hampshire Calling. The first episode – on Wednesday, March 25, from 7 - 8 p.m. – will focus on the topic of “Joys and Sorrows.” Listeners will share how they’re experiencing and finding simple joys, and finding ways to cope with more serious issues during this unprecedented time. On Thursday, March 26, the topic will focus on family dynamics.
