CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF QUIZZICAL COMPETITION! (DURHAM, September 27, 2007) - Campbell High School defeated Prospect Mountain High School by a score of 230 to 155 to advance to Round Two of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. Granite State Challenge airs Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m., and re-airs Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. The victorious Campbell Cougars were comprised of seniors Nick Dube and Nate Brown, juniors Mike Clark and Emily Schaffer, and coach Mary Colbath. The Prospect Mountain Timber Wolves team included seniors Ryan Finethy, Megan Farrell, Aaron Miller and Derek King; they were coached by Vicky Sweezy. Now celebrating its 25th year, Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. The game emphasizes quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts - along with a smattering of pop culture trivia and New Hampshire topics. Host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Tim Estiloz interviews team members prior to the game. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in May. Tune in next Wednesday @ 7:30 p.m., when Gilford High School tests its wits against Raymond High School.
