Celebrate Ken Burns Country Music Day with New Hampshire PBS in Keene, NH

The town of Keene, NH is rolling out the red carpet to celebrate the 60^th anniversary of New Hampshire PBS and Ken Burns’s new series, COUNTRY MUSIC on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Join New Hampshire PBS for a day chock full of Country music activities for the entire family and an evening full of Country music and merriment. The headlining event will be held at the Colonial Theatre for an exclusive preview screening of COUNTRY MUSIC, followed by a question and answer with the film producers – Ken Burns, Dayton Duncan and Julie Dunfey. Earlier in the day NHPBS is partnering with various Keene organizations to celebrate COUNTRY MUSIC all around town.

Cheshire Children’s Museum (10am-5pm): Children are invited to make their own guitars out of recycled materials. Enjoy music from Keith Murphy and Becky Tracy from 10:30am-12:30pm. (Museum admission fee)

Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery at Keene State College (11am-7pm): View and bid on some of the amazing photography used in the COUNTRY MUSIC series in a photography exhibit – “This Is Country: Photographs From COUNTRY MUSIC, A Ken Burns Film” and take a peek at one of the eight signed guitars from Faith Hill and Tim McGraw that are also up for bid. And enjoy the music from slide guitarist, Scott Ainslie from 2pm-3pm.(Free and open to the public)

Monadnock Food Co-op (12pm-2pm): Enjoy a delicious Barbeque lunch provided by the Co-Op. Join us for this Southern hospitality, located on the patio to the right of the building. (Lunch available for purchase)

MoCo Arts (3pm-3:30pm): “MoCo Goes Country!” Attend a country music performance by the dance, theatre and young arts students from the MoCo’s 2019 summer camp. (MoCo Arts event admission fee)

Colonial Theatre (4-5pm): Join us for “Behind the Scenes at Florentine Films: A look at the filmmaking process with the crew behind COUNTRY MUSIC.” The production, editing and post-production teams from COUNTRY MUSIC will be on hand for a panel discussion to describe their process and to answer your questions. (Free and open to the public)

Machina Arts: Kitchen and Artbar after Party (9:30pm-11pm): Finish out the night with New Hampshire PBS with a post-screening after party to talk about the series, wet your whistle and hear some great live music from Eric Gagne. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Country Music Guitar and Photograph Auction (nhpbs.org/country-music): Eight autographed guitars from some of Country Music’s hottest stars are up for bid. You can bid on guitars from Dierks Bentley, Maren Morris, Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to name a few. And you can bid on some of the amazing photography used in the COUNTRY MUSIC series.
