NHPBS Holiday Auction Offers Gifts as Unique as the People on Your List

November 15th through December 6th

(DURHAM, November 13, 2018) - If you’re tired of giving the same, uninspired gifts every holiday season, the New Hampshire PBS Online Holiday Auction is a fun, hassle-free way to find gifts your friends and family won’t have to pretend to love. Proceeds support NHPBS and all bidding is done online, allowing you to browse, bid and buy from anywhere! Bidding for hundreds of items, donated by local businesses and NHPBS supporters, starts on November 15th and runs through December 6th.

“There is something for everyone at the NHPBS online holiday auction,” says NHPBS Vice President Dawn DeAngelis.  “It's a great way to support the programs you love.”

PBS programming has long been synonymous with travel, adventure and culture and the Online Holiday Auction gives bidders the chance to experience those things first hand. Items up for bid include tickets to see Kelly Clarkson in Boston, ski tickets to world-class mountains, and the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at a NH Fisher Cats game!

For those with a case of wanderlust, there are Delta airline tickets to anywhere in the continental United States and stays at a variety of hotels, inns and bed & breakfasts, including the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel or the luxurious Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, MA. Bidders can also treat their families to a cozy ski vacation or picturesque summer getaway with a one week stay for four at the Mittersill Alpine Resort in Franconia, NH.

And that’s just the tip of the gift-giving iceberg! Other items include certificates for fine dining at popular restaurants, spa treatments, theatre tickets and hand-crafted gifts from local artisans, including a Fenway Park print created by Tim Campbell – perfect for the Red Sox fan who has everything! You can even bid on a singing Valentine from the Seacoast Men of Harmony – complete with a rose for the recipient! For a full list of items visit nhpbs.org/auction.

The end dates for bidding are staggered over the course of six days: 11/25, 11/27, 11/29, 12/2, 12/4 and 12/6. Selling starts at 8pm each of those nights.

NHPBS staff members and a team of 20 dedicated and intrepid volunteers have been working since September to prepare for the Online Auction.  NHPBS Auction representative Barbara Mariacher has been helping NHPBS with auctions for over 30 years. Her mother, Marian Kelsey, affectionately known as “Ma” by auction staff and volunteers, has her beat by almost 10 years.

“It’s a community thing,” Barbara Mariacher said on why she’s involved with the auction. “There are so many people who come in and volunteer, and it’s a great environment—but it’s also helping to maintain the station and its programs.”

Donations for the auctions are being accepted through Friday, November 16. Please call 603-868-4432 or e-mail auction@nhpbs.org for more information on how to donate.
