Durham—July 29, 2002) Special, hands-on science training for teachers will be available in August, thanks to a partnership between New Hampshire Public Television’s Knowledge Network, the North Country Education Foundation and the JASON Project. A trip to the Marine Lab at the Isle of Shoals is set for August 19, followed by a technology-training day at NHPTV’s facility in Durham.The Isle of Shoals session will feature educational activities related to New Hampshire’s coastal resources. During the technology training session on August 20, teachers will learn how to integrate JASON’s Internet and video tools into their classroom activities.The JASON Foundation for Education provides an interdisciplinary approach to inspiring in students a lifelong passion to pursue learning in science, math, and technology through exploration and discovery.“We are pleased to offer this one-of-a-kind training opportunity to teachers,” said Susan Adams of NHPTV’s Knowledge Network. “Teachers involved in our JASON training tell us they become learners together with their students. The Project gives students with interests in art, science and language a way to get involved in real science applications. "The JASON Project is a multi-disciplinary program that sparks the imagination of students and enhances the classroom experience.
