NHPTV Sponsors Family Literacy Day

DURHAM, February 25, 2003) A Family Literacy Day for children ages 3-8 and their families will be held Saturday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seacoast Science Center at Odiorne Point in Rye. The event is sponsored by New Hampshire Public Television's Knowledge Network Ready To Learn service, in partnership with the Seacoast Science Center, to promote literacy, environmental awareness and fun.The program will include a story time, where stories will be read aloud; hands-on activities; handouts with information and activities for children and parents; and refreshments. The first 60 children will receive a free marine-related book from NHPTV."The Seacoast Science Center is excited to be involved in helping local residents enjoy reading, the sciences and the ocean," noted Perrin Cothran, director of interpretation at the center."This collaboration with the Seacoast Science Center is wonderful," said Pat VanWagoner, NHPTV's Ready To Learn Coordinator.
