DURHAM, February 26, 2003) - New Hampshire Public Television recently won a silver and three bronze Telly Awards for excellence in non-network television programming. The awards were given for the following programs: NH Outlook profile of Martha Fuller Clark, part of the program's 2002 NH Votes campaign coverage (winner, silver Telly, news feature; reporter, Phil Vaughn; videographer, Steve Giordani); NH Outlook story on Gray Mist Farm, a family farm in Coos County that has diversified its traditional dairy business into composting and growing vegetables (finalist, bronze Telly, news feature; producer, Sue Hajdu-Vaughn; videographer, Steve Giordani); Wildlife Journal - "Moose Roundup," an episode with segments about capturing and collaring moose so they can be studied, ice fishing, saving the endangered Karner Blue Butterfly, and Pisgah State Park. Another episode of Wildlife Journal, submitted by co-producer NH Fish and Game Department, also won a bronze Telly for "In Search of Bats," with segments on the Great Bay smelt run, dogs as sporting companions, New Hampshire's bats, and Nash Stream State Forest (finalist, bronze Telly, information and entertainment); and Zoom Into Action - segments about New Hampshire youths performing volunteer activities, locally produced for the nationally aired PBS program Zoom (finalist, bronze Telly, children; producer, Andrea Sarris).In the 24 years since its inception, the Telly Awards has become a highly respected national competition that gives recognition to outstanding non-network TV programming, as well as film and video productions. Entries do not compete against one another, but are judged on their own merit by production professionals. Previous winners include the History Channel, A&E, PBS, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, Walt Disney Studios, Miramax Films, National Geographic, and Time Life Video.
