NHPTV WINS TWO AWARDS FOR BEST NH WEBSITE

DURHAM, March 19, 2003)-New Hampshire Public Television recently won two awards for best New Hampshire Web site. NH.com named nhptv.org the first place winner for Best Media Web Site and the second place winner for Best Site for Kids. Nearly 260 sites competed in 20 categories in the Fifth Annual New Hampshire Internet Awards, sponsored by NH.com. The awards recognize online excellence in the state.Entries in the competition represented virtually every economic sector in New Hampshire: health care, automotive, real estate, public service, government, media, retail and service, as well as sites related to schools, kids, manufacturing, hospitality, tourism and business in general.“Clean and easy-to-follow navigation and design, matched with visually pleasing elements, appropriate use of technology and interactivity, and good content make this site the best in its category,” stated the judges in naming nhptv.org as the first place winner for Best Media Web Site. “There is a lot of solid content that is easy to find, but presented in an uncluttered format.” Entrants included Granite State newspapers, magazines and radio and television stations.An “elegant and sophisticated design that looks professional. Good navigation and nice JavaScript menus that don't cripple the browser,” were cited by the judges in awarding nhptv.org second place in the Best Site for Kids category. The judges were looking for outstanding efforts to involve children and students in activities that encourage learning and promote the Internet as a useful tool for education and entertainment.Beyond its award-winning local and national television programs, NHPTV provides instructional services for 220,000 students from kindergarten through high school; offers Ready To Learn programs for children, preschool to age 12; and provides professional development programs and advanced technology training for parents, educators and child-care providers in New Hampshire and neighboring states.
