NHPTV TAKES TOP HONORS AT ASSOCIATED PRESS BROADCASTERS AWARDS

DURHAM, April 18, 2003 – New Hampshire Public Television earned three First Place and three Honorable Mention awards at the state’s annual Associated Press Broadcasters Awards competition. NH Outlook, NHPTV’s nightly newsmagazine, received two First Place and three Honorable Mention awards. NHPTV also took home a First Place award for its UNH Hockey coverage. NH Outlook garnered recognition in the following categories:Public Affairs/Talk Show First Place for “The Dog Show.” AP judges cited this edition as a “compelling, well-researched profile of man’s best friend and his often inhumane masters.” Public Affairs/Talk Show Honorable Mention for “NH Votes.” An extensive series of reports about the fall 2002 election, candidates and issues. Documentary or Series Honorable Mention for “Innocence Lost.” This five-part series explored the Catholic Church’s reaction to abuse allegations as well as victims’ perspectives. News Videography First Place for “Disaster Drill.” A report on New Hampshire’s preparations for a terrorist attack. Feature Videography Honorable Mention for a series of reports on agricultural innovations in New Hampshire. NHPTV’s coverage of UNH Hockey was a First Place winner in the Sports Play-By-Play category.NH Outlook, NHPTV's award-winning nightly newsmagazine, is dedicated to in-depth discussion and analysis of local issues and current events.
