NHPTV Now Available on DirecTV Satellite Service

(Durham, May 21, 2003) - Starting May 21, New Hampshire Public Television's award-winning local productions and PBS programs will be available to DirecTV subscribers in the Boston area. Viewers in Strafford, Rockingham, Hillsborough, Cheshire, Merrimack and Belknap counties in New Hampshire; Windham County in Vermont; and Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk, Worcester, Norfolk, Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes, and Nantucket counties in Massachusetts can tune into Channel 11 and watch NHPTV. Plans for expanding satellite coverage throughout New Hampshire are underway.The current, three-time winner of the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters Station of the Year Award, NHPTV boasts a lineup of daily children's series, news and public affairs coverage, science and nature programs, and arts and performance specials. With a focus on the needs of Northern New England, along with offerings from PBS and other national public television program distributors, NHPTV offers a great line-up of local productions including:Wildlife Journal, an outdoor recreation program produced with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department that explores the state's beautiful natural habitats and its range of outdoor activities, airing Thursdays at 9 p.m.; NH Outlook, a nightly newsmagazine which has garnered awards for its coverage of local community issues and state government, airing weeknights at 10 p.m.; Granite State Challenge, the popular high school quiz show, concluding its 20th anniversary season with the SuperChallenge Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m.If you ARE a DirecTV subscriber but do not receive local stations:Contact DirecTV at 1-800-347-3288 and request Boston local channels.If you are NOT a DirecTV subscriber, choose one of the following installation options:Contact DirecTV at 1-888-238-7177 Order online at www.directv.com Since February, NHPTV has been available on the Dish Network / Echostar satellite service on channel 8781.
