Granite State Challenge Nashua South Defeats Raymond High

Nashua South vs. Raymond High School

(DURHAM, February 11, 2017) – Nashua won against Raymond High School with a score of 560 to 360 in this week’s Granite State Challenge. Starting in round one, Nashua took the lead and dominated their way through the game while Raymond tried to advance. The Nashua South Panthers were represented by captain Nisha Devasia, Ankita Devasia, Jack Leatherman, and Ben Telerski, and were coached by Gregory Montine and Neil Claffey.

The Raymond Rams were represented by captain Anthony Conchiglia, James Coomey, Colton Corriveau, and Jacob Rubin, and were coached by Elizabeth and Thomas Koch. “Personally I feel like the game went well, as an individual I know I carried my weight and had a very good time, and even though we didn't go very far, I'm happy with the result,” said a student from Raymond. “I took away that the Granite State Challenge experience is something I'm going to remember for the rest of my life.”

Nashua South now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE.

Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teamsbattling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE.

The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts—along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England.
