2016 MOCK ELECTION FOR STUDENTS GRADES K-12 SPONSORED BY NEW HAMPSHIRE PUBLIC TELEVISION

(DURHAM, October 28, 2016) — With just 12 days until Election Day, New Hampshire students around the state are getting ready to cast their votes, too. More than 20,000 students in grades K-12 from 115 New Hampshire schools and classrooms will be voting in the New Hampshire Mock Election on Thursday, November 3, 2016.Students have been preparing to vote in this mock election by researching candidates and learning about the issues facing our state and country. Ballot forms and candidate details are available at New Hampshire Public Television’s website nhptv.org/mockelection.“The New Hampshire Mock Election is an opportunity for students to learn about the electoral process firsthand,” notes Susan Adams, New Hampshire Public Television’s manager of educational services. “By researching the presidential, gubernatorial, senate and house races, students learn how much their votes matter.”New Hampshire Public Television’s general mock election began in 1996. In 2000, the mock primary election was started, which allows Granite State students to participate in the historic First in the Nation Primary. Votes will be tallied all day on November 3rd, with regular updates at nhptv.org/mockelection until the final count is verified. Results are expected to be finalized by November 4 at 4 p.m.
