MERRIMACK DEFEATS MANCHESTER CENTRAL; ADVANCES TO FINALS OF GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, May 7, 2016) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE semifinal match, Merrimack High School beat Manchester Central High School by a score of 620 to 450. With this win, Merrimack will compete against Nashua High School South for the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE cup next week.The Merrimack Tomahawk team was represented by captain Jack Landry, Bailey Joseph, Pooja Agrawal and Zev Sernik, and coached by Sara Campbell. Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began its 32nd season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts fact-along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England.
