(DURHAM, March 26, 2016) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Kearsarge Regional High School beat Hopkinton High School by a score of 490 to 480. The lead volleyed between the two teams through all four rounds. With just seconds to spare, Kearsarge clinched the lead and took home the win.The Kearsarge Cougars were represented by captain Aidan Terhune, Eric Scheuch, Elise Paquette and David Russell, and were coached by Randy Wormald. The Hopkinton Hawks were represented by captain Jacob Walling, Bowman Ridinger, Joe Spalding and Tim Jones, and were coached by Matthew Krogman and Steven Chamberlin.

Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts fact-along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England.
