PLYMOUTH HIGH TOPS SOUHEGAN AND ADVANCES TO SECOND ROUND OF GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, March 5, 2016) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Plymouth Regional High School defeated Souhegan High School with a score of 620 to 250. Souhegan took the lead in the first round, but, ultimately, Plymouth took the game. The Souhegan Sabers were represented by captain Hannah Parrott, Elizabeth Purvis, Sean Corrigan, and Benny Gottwald, and were coached by Dave Janiski and Tony Doucet. The Plymouth Bobcats were represented by captain Andrew Chabot, Sean Harris, Richie Lyons, and Nate Maves-Moore, and were coached by Jay Forgarty. "It turned out to be a real battle."Plymouth Regional High School now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts fact-along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England.
