DEFENDING CHAMPIONS BISHOP GUERTIN START SEASON WITH A WIN

(DURHAM, February 13, 2016) - Bishop Guertin, last year's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE champions, opened with an impressive win over Dover High School. Bishop Guertin took an quick lead and continued to dominate each round; the final score was 420 to 230.The Green Wave of Dover were represented by captain Jordan Schneider, Kevin Zheng, Bryan Woolley, and Michael Lo, and were coached by Eric Salmonsen. The Cardinals of Bishop Guertin were represented by captain David Travers, Holly Boivin, Jeff Steiner, and John McCann, and were coached by Lisa LaRochelle. "We put together a very cohesive team effort."Bishop Guertin now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts—along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England.
