CROTCHED MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION TRAILS FEATURED ON WINDOWS TO THE WILD

(GREENFIELD, NH, January 15, 2016) — Explore the longest accessible trail system in the United States in a new episode of the Emmy-winning series WINDOWS TO THE WILD, produced by New Hampshire Public Television. On the 30-minute show, which premieres Wednesday, January 27th at 7:30 p.m. on NHPTV PRIME, host Will Lange travels to Greenfield, New Hampshire and joins a group of hikers on the Crotched Mountain Foundation’s specially designed trails. Combining unique hardpack pathways, boardwalks, moderate grades, switchbacks and rest stops, the Gregg and Dutton Brook Trails offer a natural and accessible hiking experience for people of all abilities. Host Will Lange talks with hikers about how the trails give people the opportunity to experience the outdoors and enjoy hiking up to panoramic views of the Monadnock Region and descending down into the deep, cool woods to circle a picturesque wetland. “There is tremendous value in ensuring that extended hiking experiences are accessible to everyone and can be enjoyed by family and friends together,” said Donald Shumway, president and CEO of Crotched Mountain Foundation. “On any given day you may encounter families with children, seniors, as well as people with disabilities. These trails are the embodiment of ‘Universal’ design -- they are truly for everyone.” Watch the 11th season of WINDOWS TO THE WILD as Will hikes, paddles and explores New England’s wild places each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.; additional airings at www.nhptv.org/schedule.
