(DURHAM, February 7, 2015 ) — The 31st season of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE opened with an impressive win by Bishop Guertin High School over Goffstown High School with a score of 440 to 145. Team captain Timothy Morrison's quick buzzer reflex established and maintained Bishop Guertin's lead.The Goffstown Grizzlies were represented by captain Ryan Roggenbuck, Kat Deabill, Bryannah Voydatch and Caitlin Keith, and were coached by Heather Welsh and Sean Colligan. The Bishop Guertin Cardinals were represented by captain Timothy Morrison, Zachary Deming, David Travers, and Holly Boivin, and were coached by Lisa Larochelle. I was very nervous, especially after our team did so poorly in the warm-up round, said Bishop Guertin coach Lisa Larochelle. Our team competes in several quiz tournaments throughout the state. Those and our Monday practice sessions proved to be excellent prep for GSC.Bishop Guertin now advances to
second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The popular quiz contest began the season with
16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a third year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts – along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions; co-host Lori Warriner gets the behind-the-scenes story from each team. Watch GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE Saturdays at 6 PM on NHPTV PRIME, with multiple
