SCREENINGS OF THE ROOSEVELTS & DISCUSSIONS

DURHAM, NH (September 2, 2014) — They were political icons who influenced 20th-century American history more than perhaps any other family. New Hampshire Public Television presents three screenings of The Roosevelts: An Intimate History, a new documentary by New Hampshire’s own award-winning PBS documentary filmmaker Ken Burns. The film series interweaves the stories of three powerful Roosevelts: Theodore, Eleanor, and Franklin. NHPTV is sponsoring three screening previews and discussions of the film: • September 8 at Franklin Pierce University, Rindge • September 10 at Saint Anselm College, Manchester• September 11 at Red River Theatres, ConcordEach screening will be followed by a discussion with Pam Tubridy Baucom and Daniel J. White, Florentine Films producers for the 7-part, 14-hour series, which premieres on NHPTV PRIME and PBS September 14- 20. Through wars, revolutions, depressions and movements, the Roosevelts led the country during “America’s century.” At times they had little in common but for the one thing they always had in common: their ability, desire and conviction to lead. They not only redefined the relationship Americans had with their government and with each other, but also redefined the role of the United States within the wider world. The series encompasses important turning points in the history that the Roosevelts helped to shape, while also providing insight into their family relationships and personal triumphs.
