BISHOP GUERTIN TOPS PORTSMOUTH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY ON GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, May 3, 2014) - With their 235 - 170 win over Portsmouth Christian Academy in the semi-finals of Saturday's Granite State Challenge, Bishop Guertin High School earned its spot in the Granite State SuperChallenge match that will air May 17th. “PCA is such a phenomenal team and that game really could've gone either way," commented Bishop Guertin captain Timothy Morrison. "We're thrilled to be moving on to the Super Challenge!” “We congratulate Bishop Guertin on being excellent competitors. The Bishop Guertin High School was represented by captain Timothy Morrison, Jeff Steiner, David Travers and Zachary Demings, and led by coach Meagan Davidson. Portsmouth Christian Academy was represented by captain John Sipp, Jonah Abraham, Connor Foley and Nate Foster, and led by coaches Donna Capern and Dr. Raymond Gamble.Watch this and all the matches online >> Bishop Guertin now advances to the final match-up of the season, the Granite State SuperChallenge game which airs Saturday, May 17th at 6 p.m. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling for the coveted SuperChallenge title and brainy bragging rights.It takes a winning combination of knowledge, teamwork, grace under pressure, and a quick buzzer reflex to play Granite State Challenge. The show brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in lively competition. The game emphasizes quick recall of material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language and fine arts - along with a mix of questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and regional topics. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions to the teams; Lori Warriner interviews team members. The winner of the Granite State SuperChallenge receives $1,000, a trophy and a champion banner for their school; the runner-up school receives $500 and a trophy. The SuperChallenge winner will compete for the Governor's Cup against the winner of the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show at the end of the season.
