PLYMOUTH REGIONAL HIGH TOPS NEWFOUND REGIONAL IN GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, March 29, 2014) - This week's first round match between Newfound Regional High School and the 2013 winner of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE, Plymouth Regional High School, resulted in the Plymouth Bobcats topping its neighbor by a score of 320-160.Coach Dave Harlow of Newfound Regional said the team was glad to be back competing, although it was a tough game. "This was our first attempt in many years and we had a lot of fun."The Newfound Regional High School Bears were represented by captain David Gibson, Sam Kench, Nicholas Panaggio, and Megan Geldermann, and coached by David Harlow. The Plymouth Regional High School Bobcats were represented by captain Sophia Adams, Andrew Buttolph, Alexander Browne, and Nathan Maves-Moore, and coached by Jay Fogarty.Watch this and all the matches online >>Plymouth Regional High School now advances to the semi-finals of Granite State Challenge. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling for the coveted SuperChallenge title and brainy bragging rights.It takes a winning combination of knowledge, teamwork, grace under pressure, and a quick buzzer reflex to play Granite State Challenge. The show brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in lively competition. The game emphasizes quick recall of material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language and fine arts - along with a mix of questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and regional topics. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions to the teams; Lori Warriner interviews team members.The winner of the Granite State SuperChallenge receives $1,000, a trophy and a champion banner for their school; the runner-up school receives $500 and a trophy.
