I HAVE A DREAM VIDEO CONTEST FOR STUDENTS K-12 UNDERWAY

Sponsored by NHPTV & Citizens Bank Foundation To Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

(DURHAM, January 8, 2014) — What – and who – inspires and motivates youths? For many people, Dr. Martin Luther King’s iconic "I Have a Dream” speech in 1963 provided the inspiration to consider wide possibilities and to dream of a better world. In honor of Dr. King’s legacy, New Hampshire Public Television is sponsoring the I Have a Dream Video Contest. Students in grades K – 12 are invited to create a 30 - 60 second video that describes what Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream, life, work, or words means to them. The video is an informal presentation featuring the student, or a video presentation of someone who the student finds inspirational. Winning entries will be posted online and may be aired on NHPTV.Video can be created with a mobile phone, tablet, flip camera, or video camera. This is a great project for families and social studies classrooms. “This video contest is a creative way to engage young people in celebrating Dr. King’s incredible legacy,” said Joe Carelli, President of Citizens Bank and RBS Citizens, New Hampshire and Vermont. “His strong moral character and dedication to bring freedom and equality for all continues to inspire each generation who hears his message. We are proud to work with New Hampshire Public Television on this initiative and look forward to seeing the entries.”Encourage someone in your world to document their own dream and share it with people all over the Granite State. The contest, which is underwritten by the Citizens Bank Foundation, ends March 20, 2014. Details and entry forms are available at nhptv.org/dream.
