The live 40h New Hampshire Public Television Spring Auction begins Friday, April 26th at 6 p.m., and continues nightly through May 5th on NHPTV PRIME and live online at nhptv.org/auction! Every year the NHPTV AUCTION promotes thousands of small and large regional businesses, local artists, restaurants, vacation spots, and recreational opportunities during this 10-day event that connects NHPTV with generous community supporters. Radio and TV personalities, community leaders and long-time friends of NHPTV serve as guest auctioneers – and some of them have been on board since the Auction began 40 years ago! As Peg Reeves, a volunteer since the Auction began in 1973 tells it, “The “Mother of Auction,” Katie Wheeler (of Durham), asked me to help out. I started because I had a young family and I couldn't afford to support the channel financially the way I wanted to...but I could give time.” The co-chair of the Auction, Richard Shepherd (whose family members have long been involved in the Auction) says, “I generally take my vacation during Auction...come and try it -- you'll going to have blast and it’s for a great cause!”Auction enthusiasts outside NHPTV’s viewing area can enjoy the Auction buzz, via a live web videostream at www.nhptv.org !
