(DURHAM, February 11, 2013) – In a much-anticipated return, the 29th season of New Hampshire Public Television's
GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE premiered Sunday, February 10th at 6:30 p.m. when Coe-Brown Northwood Academy and Hanover High School faced off in the opening match. The Hanover Marauders won the first-round game by a score of 305 - 160, and were represented by captain Graham Reid, Matt Jin, Niels Kuehlert, Siddhartha Jayanti, alternate Hannah Sobel, and led by veteran coach Bill Murphy. Coe-Brown Northwood was represented by captain Emily Davis, Henry Snow, Sam Fortier, Erik Gunderson, alternates Kyle Stevens and Dan Rivera, and were coached by Lorraine Drake. After a close first round which ended with Hanover holding a slight lead over Coe-Brown Northwood, the bonus questions ultimately gave Hanover a big boost. Granite State SuperChallenge team will receive a $1,000 award from the NHHEAF Network/ I Am College Bound.org program. The winning school also receives $1,000 and a trophy, and the runner-up school receives $500.
