Hanover Teacher Wins PBS Teachers Innovation Award

Award Honors Teachers Who Inspire and Cultivate Learning(DURHAM, June 30, 2011) – Pamala Miller of Hanover High School in Hanover, NH, is a recipient of a 2011 PBS Teachers Innovation Award. The social studies teacher uses PBS’s FRONTLINE programs and Teacher Center to highlight current issues and powerful journalism, and encourages her students to create their own videos to focus on topical issues.The PBS Teachers Innovation Awards recognize educators’ creative use of public media to engage students and improve learning. As America’s largest classroom, PBS is working with educators to provide tools and share innovative teaching methods to meet the emerging needs of today’s learners. PBS Teachers is the Web portal to PBS’ preK-12 educational services and its searchable library of more than 9,000 free local and national standards-based instructional resources, including on-demand video and interactive games.The 2011 PBS Teachers® Innovation Awards, sponsored by The Henry Ford and SMART Technologies, invited PreK-12th grade educators to share ideas and videos showcasing how they were engaging students with PBS resources and innovative ideas to reinforce 21st century learning skills.
