(DURHAM, March 24, 2006) - The golden age for retirement used to be 65. However, a growing number of workers are staying on the job well beyond that age, and not always by choice. That’s often because they didn’t plan or invest for their later years, or because unanticipated events like divorce changed their financial circumstances. Outlook on Money, airing on New Hampshire Public Television’s award-winning nightly newsmagazine NH OUTLOOK Monday, March 27th @ 7:30 p.m., takes a look at planning for retirement.According to a recent study, more than 40% of households have saved almost nothing for retirement. We’ll meet a woman in her 60s who finds herself needing to work to supplement her income. We’ll also meet a couple in their mid-30s who are trying to pay off debts as well as save for retirement.Outlook on Money is a unique series designed to help people of all ages and income levels establish and maintain financial security. Whether it's learning to live on a budget, teaching children to spend and save wisely, planning for college and retirement, or starting your own business, “Outlook on Money” offers advice from experts around the state. These financial literacy segments are available for online viewing at https://nhpbs.org/outlook/money.asp. Beyond the 12 stories that are part of the series, Outlook on Money will be made available to schools, libraries, and community groups. Content for the series was contributed by 20 economic assistance and guidance organizations in the state, among them NH Jump$tart Coalition, Fannie CLAC and UNH Cooperative Extension.The special project was launched through the assistance of a $50,000 grant from Citizens Bank Foundation. The Citizens Bank Foundation is the principal charitable contributions vehicle of Citizens Bank New Hampshire.
