Making Jefferson’s Maccaroni Pie

Filmmaker Ken Burns and Ciao Italia! host Mary Ann Esposito celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by re-creating one of Thomas Jefferson’s favorite recipes: Maccaroni Pie. The two PBS icons make the pie from scratch, based on Jefferson’s notes and discuss how Jefferson’s time in France and Italy led him to bring an early predecessor of modern macaroni and cheese to American tables.
