Thylacomyidae
There are 2 species in this family of marsupials. Bilbies have soft gray fur, long pointed noses, and long, rabbit-like ears.They build burrows in the ground using their powerful front paws and strong claws. They spend the day in their burrows and come out at night to forage for food. They are omnivores and eat insects, lizards, mice, snails, seeds, bulbs, fruit, and fungi. They are found in desert areas of central Australia. Bilbies are sometimes called rabbit-eared bandicoots.
