Vireonidae - Vireos, Peppershrikes, Greenlets

Red-tailed HawkThe birds in this family are native to North America, Central America, and South America. They are small birds between 4-7 inches in length. They have slightly hooked bills. They are usually olive-green or yellow on their uppersides and olive-green, yellow, gray, or white on their undersides.

Some species have white eye rings, and some species have bars on their wings. Most species live in forest edges and eat insects off of leaves and twigs. They also eat berries and fruits.

They are constantly singing, in fact they may sing for an entire day. Most species sing the same song over and over again.
