Megaloptera - Alderflies, Dobsonflies, Fishflies

There are around 300 species in this order. They are found near fresh water. The adults in this order have a short life! Many species mate and die within a few hours. The larvae live in the water and are carnivorous. They may remain in the larval stage for 1-3 years.
