Leptosomidae - cuckoo-roller
The cuckoo-roller is the only bird in this family! The cuckoo-roller is found in forests in Madagascar and the Comoros Islands.
The cuckoo-roller is 16-20 inches in length. It has a large rounded head and a thick, conical bill. They have short legs and small feet. Males are a soft gray with a black eye stripe. They have a black cap on their heads and metallic green shoulders. Females are brown with dark splotches on their chest.
The cuckoo-roller spends most of its time in trees. It eats insects and small reptiles.
