ROADS TO RECOVERY PREMIERES MAY 25 AT 8 P.M. ON NEW HAMPSHIRE PUBLIC TELEVISION

(Durham, May 11, 2017) —  Substance use disorder is reaching epidemic proportions across the country and in communities large and small across New England. The problem is bigger than Illicit drugs such as heroin -- it includes alcohol and prescription meds found in most people's homes. According to the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality more than ten percent of the population in New England misuse illicit drugs or alcohol. More than eighty percent of those people never receive treatment. NHPTV's new series  ROADS TO RECOVERY  takes a close up look at solutions for people living with substance use disorder.

ROADS TO RECOVERY takes an in-depth look at what recovery looks like and how to achieve it.  Host Jennifer Rooks leads a discussion with experts in the field who provide a roadmap to treatment and recovery. Personal stories of recovery will bring viewers close to some of the problems and solutions facing communities across New England.

"It's not just about staying clean and sober, it's about bettering the quality of my life each year,"  Moné Cassier who has recovered from substance use disorder and now runs a residential treatment home in Somersworth.

ROADS TO RECOVERY explores the many pitfalls and obstacles that people encounter along the way and provides expert advice to individuals and families dealing with addiction.
