NHPTV WINS TWO NEW HAMPSHIRE INTERNET AWARDS

(DURHAM, March 22, 2004) — New Hampshire Public Television recently won two awards for bestNew Hampshire Web site. NH.com named nhptv.org the second place winner for Best Media Web Site and the third place winner for Best Education Site. Nearly 260 sites competed in 21 categories in the Sixth Annual New Hampshire Internet Awards, sponsored by NH.com. The awards recognize design, programming, and creativity. Web sites are judged by out-of-state Web designers over a one-month period. Entries in the competition represent most economic sectors in New Hampshire: health care, automotive, real estate, public service, government, media, retail and service, as well as sites related to schools, kids, manufacturing, hospitality, tourism and business in general. The design of the site “offers a good balance of highlighting current information with easy-to-find links for ongoing information and resources,” stated the judges in naming nhptv.org as the second place winner for Best Media Web Site. “Lots of information” on the site was the reason cited in awarding nhptv.org third place in the Best Education category. Judges were looking for the most creative, useful, and informative Web site about and for a New Hampshire school. Beyond its award-winning local and national television programs, NHPTV is a leader in education and community outreach. NHPTV provides instructional services for 220,000 students from kindergarten through high school; offers Ready To Learn programs and services for children preschool to age 8, parents, and early education professionals; and provides professional development programs and advanced technology training for educators in New Hampshire and neighboring states.
