Winnisquam and Trinity Vie for GSC Title

(DURHAM, May 4, 2004) -- Trinity High School defeated Derryfield School by a score of 255-235 last night in the semi-final round of Granite State Challenge, New Hampshire Public Television's academic quiz contest. The Trinity Pioneers, comprised of senior Sarah Stein and juniors Jason Surano, Conor Frain and Andrew Lutz, bested the Derryfield Cougars, comprised of seniors Robby Zeller and Nicolas Couraud, junior David Batchelder, and sophomore Isaac Wheeler. The 21st season of Granite State Challenge reaches its exciting finale Thursday, May 27 at 8 p.m. when Winnisquam Regional High School takes on Trinity High School for the coveted Granite State SuperChallenge title. The game will air live from the NHPTV Broadcast Center in Durham.Granite State Challenge is a televised quiz competition showcasing New Hampshire high school academic teams. The competition emphasizes quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts - with a few questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New Hampshire topics.
