NHPTV To Be Election Headquarters for State Participants in National Student/Parent Mock Election No

DURHAM, October 30)-Students from more than 135 New Hampshire schools will be going to the "polls" November 1 to vote for congressional and gubernatorial candidates as part of the 2002 National Student/Parent Mock Election.New Hampshire Public Television will serve as election headquarters from 3 p.m.-7:30 p.m. while schools across the state call in their votes. Students will answer the phones, tally the votes and experience the excitement of "election night." Election results will be announced between 7-7:30 p.m.; they also will be posted at www.nhptv.org/kn/election.The state's congressional and gubernatorial candidates were invited to attend. Jeb Bradley, Martha Fuller Clark, John Babiarz, and Rosalie Babiarz are confirmed to attend the event in Durham. Others may attend if their schedules permit.The New Hampshire Student/Parent Mock Election's Honorary Chairman Nicholas Donohue is pleased with participation in the project. "It's an exciting learning opportunity for all New Hampshire students and teachers," Donahue noted. "The mock election program provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn about the electoral process and to realize the relevance of politics and voting in their lives."Currently there are 70 million youth and children under the age of 18 in the United States-the largest ever generation in this age group.
