New Hampshire Public Television’s "Wildlife Journal Jr." Series to Target NH Kids

(Durham– November 25, 2003) —AFL Telecommunications is pleased to announce that Alcoa Foundation has awarded a $4,500 grant to the New Hampshire Public Television’s Wildlife Journal Jr. series. The grant will be used to fund the production of this program.NHPTV currently offers Wildlife Journal as a general audience broadcast. This popular show will be expanded as an educational series called “Wildlife Journal Jr.,” targeting an audience of an estimated 15,000 New Hampshire children in grades 4 - 8. Because the series will be aligned with the New Hampshire Frameworks in Science, teachers will be centrally involved in the creation of the material. The CD, offered to teachers, will include a video clip, teacher guide and instruction plan, a project suggestion for a hands-on activity to get students going and a link to NHPTV Knowledge Network Web site. “The Wildlife Journal Jr. series is a creative and exciting way to educate kids about the environment and our wildlife. On behalf of Alcoa Foundation, we are very happy to be able to support this program,” said Laura Moore, grant and community Coordinator for AFL Telecommunications’ Belmont facility.“We are grateful to Alcoa Foundation for the grant and to those at AFL Telecommunications.
