New Hampshire PBS Board of Directors Welcomes New Member

On Board: Michael Tanner

DURHAM, NH (December 5, 2022) – Michael Tanner, Jr. of Bedford is the newest addition to the New Hampshire PBS Board of Directors. Tanner is a business leader with experience in program, project, and team management. He brings a global perspective to his board duties, having served as an engineer on projects worldwide, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.

Tanner currently serves as a program manager, F-15 International at BAE Systems in Nashua, where he initiates and executes projects and manages personnel. He has significant experience with core business functions such as budgeting, risk management, cross-team communication, supervision, and hiring and training. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, both from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.

“Though in the early stages of his career, Michael has already done hugely impressive things and brings a skilled, seasoned business outlook to our Board of Directors,” says Peter Frid, NHPBS president and CEO. “We’re looking forward to hearing more of his viewpoints as a young professional building a career and raising a family in the Granite State.”

Tanner began his career in marine engineering, serving as an engineering cadet and later subsea engineer on ships and offshore drilling rigs. That work involved him leading cross-functional and multicultural teams and extensive travel, both nationally and internationally. Tanner earned a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, graduating from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and he holds two engineering-related licenses from the United States Coast Guard.

Here in the Granite State, Tanner completed a Hoffman-Hass Fellowship with the NH Center for Nonprofits; the fellowship program prepares new leaders for board service at New Hampshire nonprofits. He is also participating in the current class of Leadership New Hampshire, a cohort of accomplished individuals that learn about issues in the state, connect with one another and ultimately serve their communities.

“I am looking forward to working alongside the skilled board and staff at NHPBS. With this great team, I hope to bring to New Hampshire PBS new ideas and opportunities to connect, ” says Tanner. “While I have always been invested in New Hampshire, that commitment grew when I had my daughter. I am excited to get to work to strengthen our communities through public media.”
