New Programs, Topic-Centered Schedules Coming to New Hampshire PBS

Fall Programming Update

DURHAM, NH (August 30, 2022) – As we turn the calendar from summer to autumn, routines around work, school, hobbies, and pursuits tend to fall into a regular rhythm. New Hampshire PBS is offering new programs and new programming schedules, designed to better serve viewer needs, interests and lifestyles.

NHPBS is available on five core broadcast channels: NHPBS, EXPLORE, WORLD, CREATE and PBS KIDS; programming is also streamed at NHPBS.org and via PBS Kids. Starting in September, new blocks of programming will reflect popular, specific viewer interests.

“Public television viewers are always seeking inspiration, quality entertainment and reliable information,” says Dawn DeAngelis, vice president & chief content officer at New Hampshire PBS. “We also know viewers are busier than ever and their time is precious. Through some new themed programming, we are hoping to meet viewers on their own terms by highlighting the types of topics they’re interested in and scheduling it in blocks; that way, information is easier to find and easier to plan as part of their regular viewing experiences.”

New Hampshire PBS viewers can look forward to new viewing options on the following channels:

NHPBS

Saturday evenings offer a chance to explore other cultures, through a quintessentially British comedy and a new Spanish language offering:

  • THE GOES WRONG SHOW
    Saturdays starting September 3 at 8 p.m.
British wit and slapstick are on display via the adventures of a fictitious British theater company in THE GOES WRONG SHOW. The 30-minute comedy is based on the award-winning play, “The Play That Goes Wrong.” Members of the acclaimed Mischief Theater company – a real life British troupe that are “serious about silliness” – play members of a fictitious company, the Cornley Drama Society. New Hampshire PBS is airing this British gem as the exclusive public television carrier in New England.
  • HOPE STREET
    Saturdays at 8:30 p.m., starting September 3
Follow the stories of a Northern Irish town, its residents, and its local police department in this British crime serial drama. The program first aired on BBC One Northern Ireland and featured an ensemble cast originating almost exclusively from the local area in Northern Ireland where the series was filmed.
  • LA OTRA MIRADA
    Saturdays at 10:30 p.m., starting September 17
LA OTRA MIRADA is the first Spanish language show (with English subtitles) to air on New Hampshire PBS. Viewers can tune in to follow the dramatic stories of brave young women in 1920s-era Seville, Spain. The program – set in an academy for young ladies – explores feminist themes as the women find their voices and pathways.

NHPBS EXPLORE

The NHPBS EXPLORE channel will now feature topical adult programming, with a different theme each weekday.

  • Viewers can start their week off with a focus on arts and music on Mondays, including AUSTIN CITY LIMITS and DAVID HOLT’S STATE OF MUSIC.

Award-winning journalist Christiane Amanpour leads the conversation from London each day, joined by contributors from New York: author, journalist and history professor Walter Isaacson, and public media journalists Michel Martin, weekend host of ALL THINGS CONSIDERED.
