DURHAM, April 30, 2002 - New Hampshire Public Television earned more first place awards than any other television broadcaster in the state at the annual New Hampshire Associated Press Broadcasters Awards competition. NH Outlook, New Hampshire Public Television's nightly newsmagazine, received five top honors. NHPTV also won a first place slot for its UNH hockey play-by-play coverage. NH Outlook received awards for:Feature Videography: Steve Giordani, videographer; Richard Ager , producer. A feature on military honors for deceased veterans. Documentary Series (tied for first place): "A Journey Toward Healing" - Linda Howe, producer; Cindy Jones, videographer/editor. A three-part series about the challenges a physician and patient face in dealing with breast cancer. "Clearing the Air" - Susan Hajdu-Vaughn, producer; Steve Giordani, videographer/editor; Lisa Brown, contributing reporter. A five-part series on tobacco use and prevention. Public Affairs/Talk Show: A program about how junior high school students in North Conway were coping with the September 11 terrorist attacks by raising money for the Red Cross and meeting with senior citizens to learn about their experiences with Pearl Harbor. Feature: "Lucy" - Phil Vaughn, producer/editor; Steve Giordani, videographer. A story about Lucy, a golden retriever with spina bifida who uses a stroller for mobility. She and her owners visit hospitals to console and cheer up patients.
