• 1877- The first Wimbledon Championships begins.
• 1896 - William Jennings Bryan delivers his Cross of Gold speech denouncing the gold standard.
• 2002 - The MLB All-Star game ends in a 7-7- tie after 11 innings when both teams ran out of pitchers.
